What are Mexicano oak doors?

Mexicano internal doors are most known for their thin vertical slats set in a frame. The oak Mexicano range is available in a wide variety of styles to bring some rustic charm to your internal doors.

Mexicano internal doors are one of the UK's most popular oak door choices and over the years we've expanded our range to include bi-fold, glass panel, and French door lines. You can use Mexicano bifold doors to open up living space whilst standard Mexicanos keep other rooms cosy.

Our traditional Mexicano internal doors are available in oak or with a laminate finish. They're made using engineered oak which offers a variety of benefits over a solid oak door. Engineered oak is more resistant to fluctuations in temperature and humidity than solid wood. This is especially useful in kitchens. Because there is a layer of wood on top it's also incredibly difficult to tell apart from a traditional oak door so your oak Mexicano door can still maintain a traditional look.

In 2018, we introduced our first half light clear glazed Mexicano oak door and it's been popular ever since! Mexicano doors with glass help to make this popular style even more versatile. This product has now evolved to offer glazed 6-panel Mexicano oak door products and 10-panel Mexicano oak doors to really let the light shine through. These are popular in more contemporary designs but look just as much at home in a quaint cottage.

All of the products in the Mexicano range have a solid core and come with 20mm lipping's as standard so they can be trimmed down to size to fit even the most difficult of spaces. All of our doors are also available in various sizes that will fit standard door openings easily.

Our Mexicano line of doors is available both prefinished and unfinished so you can find the right option for your home. Various standard sizes are available with a thickness of 35mm.

What are the differences between finished and unfinished doors?

Whether you chose a finished or unfinished door will depend on if you want to customise the finish of your doors in any way.

A finished door will be ready to fit as soon as it has been delivered. This is the more time-effective offer and means you can fit your Mexicano door the same day it arrives. These offer the most convenience as the item needs no preparation before fitting.

An unfinished door will give you the option to put your own stamp on the door. These doors will not be stained, varnished, or waxed so you can finish them in a way that perfectly compliments your space. This is the best choice if you want to decorate your door, whether it's painting it a funky colour or staining it to match other wood throughout your home.

Our oak Mexicano range is available in both finished and unfinished so you don't have to choose between finish and design for your home. Doors finished with laminate material will come fully finished.

Safety

When looking at internal door options for your home, it's not just style that needs consideration but safety. Many of the doors in our Mexicano range are also available as a fire door, also known as an FD30 fire rated door.

All of the FD30 fire door choices we offer are 44mm thick and can stop the passage of fire and smoke for a minimum of 30 minutes.

It is recommended that fire doors be positioned between kitchens and other rooms, including garages. FD30 doors are a necessity in commercial properties such as B&B's.
